Dear guest,

 

Welcome to Lammergeier Highlands Reserve. We would like to draw your attention to the following to ensure your stay with us is enjoyable & memorable.

 

Check in time is from 3pm & check out time is before 10am

 

Breakage Deposit  -  Please note that a refundable breakage deposit of R500 is payable before arrival.  All breakages are for your account. Please ensure that any items found not to be in order on your arrival are reported to owners, so as to avoid being penalised.

 

Self catering – Woodlands Cottage, Tempe Heights & Avery Cottage venues are on a self service basis only. Only Ossa Farm Guest is dinner, bed & breakfast.

 

Dietary Requirements – If you have reserved a meal with your booking, please ensure that any dietary requirements, i.e food allergies etc, are communicated to us upon making your reservation.

 

Cellular reception – is limited with Vodacom being the main service provider. Most venues have limited cellular reception, please ensure you confirm with us should you require this faciliity. Due to limited communication we request that you contact us from Aliwal North or Barkly East so that we can anticipate your arrival.

 

Weather – It can be changeable & as such you are expected to be prepared. Always have something warm to wear close by.

 

Pets - We regret that no pets are allowed on the reserve

 

We suggest you pack the following:

-Charcoal (briquettes) for Weber, firelighters & accessories to braai

-All required food & beverages

-Personal toiletries, swimming towels, clothing, hats, sunscreen, warm clothing (even in summer) environmentally friendly detergents & insect repellent.

 

Please contact us should you require more information on shopping facilities as these can be limited.

 

Our venues are all strictly non smoking. We request that should you need to smoke outside, that you please dispose of cigarette butts as to avoid any fires & damage to the environment & the animals. Failure to do so, will result in breach of orderly behaviour.

 

Please also exercise caution when making use of the braai facilities, as fire hazards are a real risk. We request that you make use of only the braai facilities that are provided.

 

Hiking & Mountain Bike Trails – There are a number of hiking trails on the reserve, we do however request that you stay on the marked foot trails & that you communicate with the owners of your intention to walk a specificic route beforehand, as a safety measure.  Since we are pro life on our reserve, we also have a number of snakes. For this reason we request that you walk in dense bush & talk grass with caution & wear suitable footwear.  These trails are GPS based & require that you bring your own GPS along, should you intend to make use of these facilities.

 

Firearms – Please be advised that whie we prefer you to leave your firearms at home, should you need to bring these along we require that it is registered with us. A licence for said firearm must be provided & that no rounds will be discharged on the property without owners consent.

 

Road Travel – Please be advised that while the road is a dirt road, the normal rules of the road still apply; namely the speed limit of 60km/h as well as remaining on the correct side of the road.  There is a fair amount of traffic on the pass as well as numerous blind corners & rises & we request that you exercise caution when traveling on this road, for your safety. Please also bear in mind that there may be animals, children & farming equipment on the road.

 

Please note that pre-booked activities are subject to weather conditions & should they need to be cancelled for this reason, you will be refunded in full for these.

 

Wild & domestic animals – We do have  baboons on the reserve & as such request that you do not leave your accommodation open & unattended, particularly when food is readily available. We also request that you do not feed any of the animals on the reserve, domesticated or wild – as we will not be able to continue to do so in your absence

 

Vulture Breeding Sanctuary Tours – These are by special arrangement only & are subject to weather conditions. These are guided tours. The charge for the tour is R500 p/vehicle.

 

Fishing – We do offer fly fishing, trout & yellow fish on the reserve on a catch & release basis. We charge R150 conservation fee per rod per day.  We request that a maximum of 30 fish are caught per party per day.  We require reserve fisherman flatten their barbs & make use of only knotless nets.  We aim to limit the amount of stress on our fish & request that you release them as kindly as possible.  Fishing is only permitted between dawn & sundown.  A fine of R5000 is applicable  for non compliance of these terms & conditions.

 

4x4 Trails – are available, guided & unguided. Please feel free to contact us should you require more information. A fee of R250/vehicle applies. Guiding is subject to availablity & on a first come, first served basis.

 

Birding – There are a number of birds on the reserve & a birding list is available for R25. The proceeds for this will be used for the conservation of the bird life in the reserve.
